Lorri and Laura chose the Rock ‘n’ Roll Savannah Marathon for its historic ambiance and the promise of music at every mile. Lorri ran in 2013 with friends while Laura ran solo in 2017. The course showcased Savannah’s charm — cobblestone streets, historic squares, and the iconic Forsyth Park finish — but also included long, soul-crushing stretches on the Truman Parkway, aka the “Highway to Hell.” Though the race was discontinued after 2021, the memories — and the miles — live on.

Lorri and Laura revisit their unforgettable experience running the 2018 Two Bears Marathon in Whitefish, Montana - a scenic, small-town race near Glacier National Park with only 53 finishers that year. They share classic course moments like unpredictable weather, sprinting to the start line, sharing a beer with the sweeper car driver and being dubbed “The Philly Girls.” The trip doubled as a mountain adventure, with post-race hikes through Glacier National Park, a bear encounter, fire worries, and the lucky reopening of Going-to-the-Sun Road. It was a reminder that small races can leave the biggest impressions.
